Karin was born in Sweden in 1980 but also grew up in the West Bank, Israel and Africa.
She started learning the violin at the age of five while living in Jerusalem.
After attending secondary school in Kenya and winning first prize in the competition;
‘Kenya Young Classical Musician of the Year’ Karin went on to study the violin
at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen before returning to Israel
to complete her music degree at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music and Dance.
Karin, a student of Ms Rivka Golani, switched to viola two years ago
whilst studying for a Post Graduate Diploma at the Birmingham Conservatoire
and two months later won first prize with her chamber music group in the Sylvia Cleaver chamber music competition.
Apart from being a musician, Karin is also a keen artist and studied drawing and lithography
as an exchange student at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem.
She enjoys painting with many different techniques – Oil, acrylic, watercolour, ink and sketching.
She has commissioned and exhibited works in Israel and some of her works are now being exhibited in Y Ganolfan,
Abergynolwyn during the festival
